ABOUT MERRIN

My mission is to simplify weightloss, improve confidence, and help you perform and feel your best.

I started my fitness career in teaching group fitness classes, then directing the Miami University Recreational Sports Center Group Fitness Program. My emphasis was specialized in positive body image, gaining strength and improving health, and enjoying exercise. I received my Master's in Health and Exercise studies at Miami University in 2002, with a focus in nutrition.​

I have had my own health and fitness journey starting at about age 17. In high school I gained 25 pounds as I became increasingly desperate to do whatever it took to have the "ideal" body. I followed any fad diet possible to try to shrink to my smallest self. I lost and gained weight multiple times through periods of starvation and then binging. It wasn't until I learned the importance of proper nutrition and exercise - especially weight training - that I started a healthy trajectory on my wellness journey.

Over the years I have learned from numerous experts, books, certifications, personal study, and conferences what "healthy" means to me, and how to have balance and enjoy my life. I don't believe in "good" and "bad" foods - all food is fuel and has a place in the diet. I am a huge advocate of daily movement - I enjoy strength training, cycling, Pilates, and walking my dogs. ​

With the plethora of conflicting information in the health industry, one of my goals is to educate clients based on current, science-based research. I want my clients to understand the why behind their health and fitness implementations, and to become self-sufficient and confident in their choices and actions.

There are many ways to lose weight and to maintain that weight loss. I aim to simplify lifestyle changes, because I know it can be challenging when you have deeply ingrained habits.

I believe in helping you make these changes for the last time and permanently, rather than speeding through shortcuts and fads that don't last. I am here to guide you, as you know your body best and what motivates and works for you. We work together as a team to capitalize on your strengths to make changes that will work for you. When you feel your best, you perform your best in work, life, and all that you do.

As a health coach, I help you create and implement healthy behaviors you can stick with like toning up, keeping the weight off, eating the right foods to help you reach your goals, and exercising effectively."I offer a one-time consultation where I calculate customized macros and/or a meal plan based on your feedback and goals. I also offer a consultation session plus a package of 3 follow-up sessions, which include:

  • Suggested meal plans and customized suggestions based on your current diet

  • Progression at a pace you are comfortable with and can sustain

  • Learning new habits and skills step-by-step

  • Cardio and/or movement recommendations

  • Customized workouts (for select clients only) 

  • Instructions on how to use a food-tracking app

One-Time Consultation with Macro Customization and/or Meal Planning: $150

Consultation Plus 3 Follow-up Sessions: $400

Please Note: the Consult plus the 3 follow-up sessions expire in one year; after that, you will have to re-do the consult and acquire 3 more sessions. If you are looking for longer, more hands-on coaching that may be available upon inquiry; the price varies.
